It all comes to an end.

In the last 2 weeks of my time in Tupelo, MS, I tried to spend as much time as possible with my hostfamily and friends. My american mom and Bailey took me to Memphis during these days and I got to see Graceland, which was the home of Elvis Presley! Afterwards we ate ribs at the legendary Rendezvous and stopped by the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated at on April 4, 1968. The National Civil Rights Museum is now located there. It were two really interesting places and I'm so glad that I got to see them.

Some friends came over one evening to say farewell to me. It was a great opportunity to see all of these amazing people again. We had such a great time and I am very thankful that I got to know them.

Patsy's legendary Donut Cake:

I needed three days to pack one year in two bags and to get ready for the big flight. Patsy cooked a very delicious meal on our last evening together and my sweet American grandparents came by to say farewell. Then Kevin and I played our last basketball match and although  I could have won, I let him win, just as a polite gesture :)

It was an wonderful evening with the family and they even got me a cookie cake & a Dr. Pepper shirt, which is legendary!

The next morning we drove to the airport in Memphis and I flew back to Germany. Suddenly an amazing year ended, and it was difficult for me to say good bye to the great country.

I want to thank the Hitt family for being the loveliest, greatest and most awesome American family out there! Thanks to Tupelo High School and all the amazing people I met there! I'm also very thankful that I got to be a part of the Calvary baptist church community. I want to say thank you to Tupelo, MS, my friends in Tacoma, WA, Mrs. Hairald and the exchange programs. And especially I want to thank my parents for making all that happen. I will never forget the great time I had in America, all the friends I made, the legendary experiences I had and the lessons I learned. These are wonderful, important memories I will never lose.

Y'all made the past 10 months to the best time of my life and I appreciate all that so much and I am very thankful!

'Merica

Ladies and Gentleman! I hope that every single one of you has a beautiful, sunny summer! I'm having definitely the greatest time of my life here in this awesome country and don't want to think about leaving it at all! I love it.

Over the last few weeks I spent a lot of time hanging out with my wonderful american family, and enjoyed the last days of School.
At the beginning of may Patsy and I went to a luncheon where I received the Rotary Scholastic Achievement Award. It is an honor given to students with very good grades in all classes.

One Weekend we drove to the beautiful Memphis to see a play in the Orpheum Theatre which is located at the famous beale street. The Musical we saw there is actually called "Memphis" and talks about the evolution of black music in Memphis's white radiostations during the 60's. It is an amazing play with great music.

To raise the day's level of awesomeness to it's highest we ate ribs at the world famous Rendezvous! The ribs they served us were legendary! They were the best ribs I've ever eaten in my entire life! Celebrities from all over the country come to Memphis just to eat the worlds greatest ribs in this old restaurant which is hidden in one of the city's small backstreets.
Unfortunaly, there are no words to describe just how good these ribs were. Sorry guys.

Awesomeness captured in one picture

On May 5th, Downtown Tupelo was filled with great old cars that met there for the Blue Suede Cruise. It is an great Oldtimer event hold every year in our beautiful city.

Kevin's new love

For the last few schoolweeks I joined the Football Team and had a great time playing for the Tupelo Golden Wave!

And then the schoolyear was already over. My last day at Tupelo high was pretty sad becasue I had to say goodbye to so many nice people that made this last year to an incredible experience.
In the evening at the same day I went to the graduation ceremony to see some of my friends again. After a long term of speeches and acknowledgements the students threw their hats in the air, just like they do it in the classic Hollywood movies, which was pretty awesome!

But I sure was glad when the summerbreak finaly started.

The first week of summer I just relaxed at our house with my family, beat my hostdad in our daily Basketball matches, swam in the pool or met with friends.

One night a friend of mine took me "flocking"! To "flock" somebody means to put lots of pink plastic flamingos in a random person's frontyard just to get their attention or to get them to make a donation. It is a crazy but fun activity!

And now my awesome, wonderful family took me to Florida again, to enjoy some beach- and familytime in the wonderful Destin. The place where we're staying is called Fort Walton and has the most beautiful sandbeach I have ever seen. The sand is so white and the water so clear that it seems like paradise!
It is legendary, just because this is 'merica.
